Before taking a look at detailed stepwise procedure here is a list of things we need to do the job. They are speakers for replacement, screw driver, glue, battery usually nine volts and manual of car. First step is to locate the speaker that needs repair or replacement. To do this we take the help of car manual. They can be in dash board , mounted on door of the car or can be located at the deck of the car on rear side.
Speakers are covered with grills that may be fitted with screws tightly. So use a screw driver to loosen them and take out the damaged speaker. Sometimes screws may not be present . In that case remove the grill with ordinary butter knife or even a screw driver with flat head. After removing the grills now we must take out the speaker. Again use screw driver to remove. Next is detachment of harness to remove the speaker from the dash board and car door.
Sometimes the grill might be tougher to remove. Then, the pads of the dashboard or even the panel of the door can be removed. The manual can be followed to remove these. The pads of the dashboard can be removed with all its screws kept beside. After the grill is removed, the speaker can be detached. To do this, the screws that hold the speaker in place are removed.
The speaker can be mounted in two ways, either top or bottom. If the speaker is mounted at the top, the access can be given from inside of the car but if it is mounted from the bottom, access is given from the trunk. The speaker can be detached by removing all the screws that keep it in its position.
Next check the voice coil or the magnet for any type of damage. If the magnet is damaged then the speakers have to be replaced. If still you cannot find the source of the problem then find out whether the speakers have short circuited. This can be done by connecting a working speaker to the car`s wiring system. If the speaker does not produce any sound then you may have to replace the speaker.
The other parts like voice coil, etc. are checked for damage. If this coil or the magnet is repaired, the speaker must be replaced. The wires must also be checked for any signs of a short circuiting.
