Problems and Perspectives in Shipping with Closed Containers

February 14th, 2010 No comments

For most people, the only consideration of getting their car from here to there is to drive it. But now there is another option, that of shipping your vehicle by using a recently developing industry, that of auto shippers. There are many burgeoning reliable companies available now who will ship you car long distances, domestically or internationally. Shipping your auto has become easier, cheaper, more widespread and more secure

If you have just bought a car overseas, won a car lottery or are relocating far, far away, you do not have to give up that prized possession just because you can’t drive it to its destination. You will no longer have to suffer the expense and monotony of driving your car to its final home, even if that is, in fact possible. You will not have to subject yourself and your car to possible damage, wear, tear and stress, or vandalism and theft. You will not have to learn a foreign language. What you will do is call a shipping company.

The French company CMA COM, S.A. declared to the world in early August of 2007 that they had ventured into container shipping, not a bad thing since they are the third largest shipping company in the world. In their announcement they made clear that at least four light vehicles could be loaded into each of their containers. This was made possible by the latest technological advancements which became a breakthrough for the industry. For the first time, shipping could be handled from the factory to the distribution center with complete safety.

Although the popularity of this method is increasing, the future of container shipping is still undetermined. The industry demands shipments of great complexity, risk and above all, responsibility. The makes large scale projects impossible to carry out successfully except for those large transportation companies able to obtain sufficient capital and technology to cover any problematic situation that may emerge.

Labor is costly in the industry. Each vehicle is expensive and any damage to it, no how matter small could become a very costly matter for the company. A shipper who regularly moves its cargo of automobiles on schedule must hire and probably train a full-time, permanent crew of skillful workers who understand the need for tender loving care of the cargo under their care.

The future of container shipping depends on the development of national and international business. Containers are mostly required for large-distance, large-scale operations, most often in trading between countries. If a country has good safe roads – and not all large countries do – and a sufficiently large network of car factories (foreign or domestic) than the quicker, easier, and less expensive open-carrier method may be standardized. Countries work to improve conditions (road quality and road crime), but these improvements may take several decades before the easier method may be popularly regard as safe enough.

A business must be quite large to be able to take advantage of the cheapest options. There is much riding on whether car manufacturers can, in the future, transport their vehicles across borders directly to large metropolitan cities and commercial/industrial complexes

Air Suspension For Ford Mustang Are Discovered!

February 14th, 2010 No comments

Just because a Ford Mustang is a sports car doesn’t mean that there’s no room for improvement when it comes to suspension. Cornering capability is all about the suspension and there are plenty of options give a Mustang a better cornering ride. The stock suspension for the Ford Mustang may seem to ride well at first but that is just because you haven’t experienced the improved cornering of aftermarket suspension components. Once that excitement of the new car wears off, things start to jump out that could be better and in your mind should be better. At this point it is time to explore the wide world of the aftermarket Mustang upgrades. Some may not even think to start with the suspension and others might even say, what does the suspension have to do with the Performance of a Mustang.

First of all for those that won’t think about the suspension, take your mind out of the engine for a little while and think of the ride. Boosting the power of the mustang is going to give more of an exhilarating feel off the line, but half of the exhilarating feeling of having a sports car is the G force that you feel through the turns, so suspension upgrading shouldn’t be neglected. Second of all if you have all this power and no suspension you will have to slow down more at every turn or pay the consequences, burning up the tires or the brakes too often more often. With either some anti sway bars or a performance suspension upgrade taking turns will be easier and the stability of the Mustang will be much improved, which means taking tighter and faster turns. More fun.

Mustang sway bars will greatly improve cornering traction for safer driving and cornering capabilities, by getting rid of the body roll that happens when you take a turn. Anti sway bars are going to keep the car flatter in the turns. These sway bars are an easy bolt on installation that is engineered to your specific to each vehicle. So they are not a universal component, ensuring that you get the highest quality possible. The improvement will be felt right away through the very first corner.

sway bars are manufactured with heat treated ASTM 4140 alloy steel and are made in s California based facility, these sway bars include integral forged end link landings, high durometer polyurethane bushings, heavy duty zinc plated hardware and powder coated components. Again, insuring the best quality and the most durable parts to take the abuse of the new corner happy driver. The Sway bars for the Mustang can be installed with common hand tools although some kits may require some drilling. Sway bar systems enable a Mustang to handle wind, passing trucks, winding roads and everyday driving with more confidence, control and stability.

Airlift has been manufacturing superior air suspension systems since 1950. In today’s age, time tells everything and for over 50 years Airlift has been doing it. The Airlift suspension for the Mustang will make it feel like riding on air, after all it is an air suspension kit. These kits are a little more difficult to install and in most cases will need the assistance of a professional.

All of their products do come with a one year warranty as long as there isn’t any tampering with parts or proper installation. Airlift really focuses on ride height. With an Airlift system you can manually control your ride height, whether you want to be few inches below the stock height or an inch above or you want to slam it to the ground during a car show, it is as simple as a touch of a button. The way this suspension works is that it employs a flexible membrane to capture compressed air. The “spring” is the air, and the air spring takes advantage of the physical properties of air that allows it to be compressed. In simpler terms you are riding on air, giving yourself a very smooth ride.

When Good Computers Go Bad

February 14th, 2010 No comments

Remember the day that you got your new computer (or the hand-me down from Uncle Larry) and you pulled that shiny case out of the box? Once you finally had all of the cables properly mangled into an unmanageable ball, you powered on, the screen lit up and off you went. The PC was fast, programs loaded in the blink of an eye, and Internet surfing was a breeze. Those were the days.

But now your PC seems to need a walker and a dozen car batteries just to get enough energy to start. Now you can turn the PC on, go get some coffee, walk the dog, and wave hello to your local waste management person who is throwing your trash cans around like a toy. When you come back inside, if the computer is ready to go, you’re surprised. Then, once you click on something, the wait starts again.

So what happened? Where did you go wrong?

There are many things that contribute to your slowing PC. Perhaps you forgot to feed the little gerbil inside – the one that’s running the wheel round and round that powers your PC. Maybe you’ve loaded one-too-many programs and now your hard drive is gasping for air. You may have a computer that is more than 2 years old, which may cause some newer programs to just not work. You may need more memory in your computer. And if you have teenagers, you’re just out of luck. Between games, instant messaging programs, and tons of Internet history backlog, you should be looking for a professional psychiatrist.

But your PC is not dead on arrival. There is a way to resuscitate the old pile of metal into a once-again functional machine. Start by going into the Control Panel (START, SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL on most machines) and click on the Add/Remove Programs button. Look through the list for programs you no longer use. Make sure you recognize the name, and that you aren’t deleting Aunt Mary’s recipe book on accident. If you do, your wife will remind you daily for the next six years. Remove with care. For programs that show in duplicate, remove the oldest version. If you are not sure about a program, don’t delete it. Call a professional – or your teenager.

You really should check your hard drive. In Windows, it’s pretty easy. Double-click on the My Computer icon on your desktop. Your desktop is the main screen you see when the computer comes on, you know, the one with the cute puppy background or the picture of someone’s kids. When the My Computer window comes up, right-click on your main hard drive, usually labeled as the C drive. You should get a menu with options, choose Properties. That will bring up a small window with a neat little pie chart. Note your used and free space amounts. If your pie has only 1 slice left worth of free space, you need to start cleaning the drive, or get a bigger one. Windows wants at least ten percent of your drive to be free just to run minimally. I suggest more like twenty percent. With hard drives in the 100 gigabyte range now, you shouldn’t have to worry about space issues.

These are a few good ways to start reviving that PC back to its former self.
