Using Your Car For Business or Personal

March 26th, 2010 No comments

There are not many people that would argue that business use is different than personal use. The thing that most people struggle with is the difference between the two. Being that car insurance is a very important aspect in our lives; we need to know what constitutes business use and what determines personal use.

When a business chooses to get a car insurance policy, they need to look at a few things. First, they need to address who will be on the policy. For example, in a personal policy, you have the responsibility of your family. Your family is a lot less liable than your business, even if you have a teenager. The best thing a business can do is retrieve the applicants driving record before they hire them on as an employee. By doing this, you are ensuring your insurance premiums to not skyrocket as well as the fact that you would even be able to add them on.

Business insurance versus personal car insurance varies by what you are going to be using your vehicle for. An example of business use would be transmitting items or hauling items to a different location that you would not be doing personally. In fact, this is business activity. There are business polices that directly deal with this type of situation; thereby making it more flexible of a policy.

Keeping track of gas and miles seems like a daunting task, however, it is a business necessity. It is very important that you distinguish which miles were used for personal use and which were used for business use. This helps on all fronts and is often tracked using a computer based model.

Keeping business use and personal use separate is always the recommended path. Most people find that their business use is very limited and do not see the reason why they should take out a separate business insurance policy. Although this may be logical, you need to make sure your bases are covered. This means that if you choose to use your personal car insurance policy for business use that is limited, you will need to inform your car insurance agent of this change so they can adjust your policy to cover it. They can find cause to deny your claim if you are found to be using your vehicle for business purposes that were not defined in your policy.

As stated above, you rate will increase because your usage has increased. Understand the usage for business is anything that is defined out of your daily use. In other words, driving to a conference is business use. This even applies if they reimburse you for miles and gas. If you transport goods or deliver items, you are using your personal vehicle for business use and it has to be documented. Sometimes we do not view things as business use because we consistently do them without even thinking. . Always keep everything in check because there are certain ramifications for not complying.

Never be challenged later down the road with not having adequate coverage or being denied a claim because you did not inform the insurance company of your situation. Talk to an agent and get the best deal.

Several Tips To Get Cheap Auto Insurance

March 26th, 2010 No comments

In the current financial climate people all over the world are looking to save money. When you are looking for places to save money the first place that you are naturally going to be looking will be the luxuries that you get. For example, if you spend lots of money on going out for dinner every week, then this will be something that will be considered a luxury and will have to be cut down. After the luxuries are cut, another place to look to save money would be on your fixed costs and expenses. An example of this would be your auto insurance, and there are a number of different things that you could do in order to reduce your rates.

When you are looking to get cheaper rates, however, it is going to be very important that you do not allow yourself to get sucked in by very cheap rates if they are not going to be able to offer you the quality of coverage that you require. Therefore you should always try to avoid very cheap companies who promise you the world but cannot deliver.

It is however possible to maintain cheaper rates and good coverage if you look to do certain things. But what can you do to get cheap insurance coverage whilst maintaining quality?

The first thing that you need to make sure of is that you gain the right knowledge on what you might be able to do. The best way to do this is to talk to a professional who knows exactly how your insurance premiums are calculated, and therefore will be able to tell you certain things that you might be able to do to reduce your premium rates.

As such you should call up your current insurer and ask them about your policy and the different things that come into play when calculating your rates, and therefore things that you might be able to do to change these up. The some people, there may be lots of things that can be done, but for others there may not.

An example of something that you might be able to do would be in changing the car that you are driving. If you are struggling financially and you own quite a powerful car then by selling this car and purchasing a new one that lives up to the criteria of the insurance company, you should be able to get cheaper insurance rates.

Another thing that you might be able to try it would be in improving your credit rating if this is something that isn’t as good as it could be. People don’t seem to know that their credit ratings play quite an important part in the price of their insurance, however insurers will look to this to see whether you are a responsible person financially. If you have a poor credit rating then it might be a good idea to see if you can consolidate some of your debts so that you can improve it.

These are only a couple of things that people could do in order to get better insurance rates, but it will really come down to your own personal situation as to whether you will be able to change your rates or not.

Is The Cost Of Car Leasing Bearable Because Of The Benefits?

March 25th, 2010 No comments

If you are thinking about whether or not the cost of car leasing is worth paying because of the benefits it has, then you will first have to consider your individual circumstances. Leasing a car can work out very well for many people and it can often be the most cost-effective solution for their needs. For some individuals it may be the only real option. Imagine you have a company that needed its sales reps to have a new car each and every year to enhance the company’s image well buying brand new cars each year would work out astronomical.

The benefit of car leasing is that it gets you behind the wheel of a nice new car for a lot less money than you would need to spend if you were to buy the car. But the main disadvantage is that after the lease has expired you will have to return the car and you will have nothing to show for it. Leasing a car is not cheap, but it will work out a whole lot cheaper than a long-term rental. The other nice thing about car leasing is that it allows you to drive away in a car that would otherwise be way outside your budget.

A cheaper alternative to leasing new cars is to lease used cars. These can be anything from a few months to a couple of years old; practically new.

But because they are not brand new and have already been driven around means that you will more than likely get better terms from the car leasing company.

You can work out whether or not leasing a car is worth the price if you take a look at your own circumstances.

Analysing the cost-benefit should not be purely about money and you should also think about how much joy you will get from driving a brand new car and whether this is more important to you than the extra amount of money.

If you feel you want to look into contract hire, having a look at all the different models available for selection is the best thing you can do. You never know, you may end up with nissan van leasing or even suzuki van leasing options.

Choosing The Best Wheelchair Lift

March 25th, 2010 No comments

Deciding which is the best wheelchair lift can be frustrating. Some points to think about before making your purchase are how you intend to use the lift, and what directions you’ll need. You must establish first whether you need a vehicle wheelchair lift or one for your place. Home wheelchair lifts are terribly constructive in helping those restricted to wheelchairs to enjoy more mobility and autonomy.

They can lift you up flights of stairs, or from a lower level garage to the main level of your place. Finding the best wheelchair lift for your home simply depends on knowing what you need before you purchase. You need to note the weight capacity that you will need, as well as the scale of the lift. If you do not have space for a bigger model lift, then you can manifestly need to bounce those and compare pricing and functionality of a smaller, more compact model. Either way, if you don’t know precisely what your non-public wishes are before you buy a lift, then you run a massive likelihood of ending up with a lift that will do you no good, or one that you can not use. You want to ensure that the material will not cause any allergic displays in the person using it. As an example, if you are the one using the lift, and you have an allergy to express materials, be certain to no include lifts made from those materials in your search. You must also keep under consideration the operation mechanism itself.

If you’d like a power operated model, or need one for several reasons, then be sure to not include manually-operated models in your search. Comparing different costs and different directions is the most effective way to find the most perfect wheelchair lift for your place, or for your automobile.

By noting the various models, their function capacities, their weight capacities, and their pricing ranges, you can make a much more enlightened choice in the purchasing process. You ought to know previously precisely what you’re looking for. You can then simply skip over models that don’t offer the directions that you would like, and make a contrasting of those that do. Be sure also to research the varied makers to make sure that you are buying a top notch lift, ideally with a guaranty, in case you would like to have repairs done, or in case the lift doesn’t work correctly on installation.

Never get a lift that you haven’t analyzed and ensure that you trust the company that you are purchasing it from.

Simple But Proven Recommendations That Bring About Cheap Auto Insurance Rates

March 25th, 2010 No comments

There are simple actions that will really help you get the right auto insurance coverage at lower rates. Do you know those things? Let’s look at a few here…

There is something known as “good driver discount.” This for drivers who have not make claims for three years and more. But bear in mind that not all insurers offer this discount.

If your agent says they don’t offer this discount let him or her know that you will switch to another insurer. Believe it or not, every insurer likes having people who stay claims free for this long as policy holders and you shouldn’t have any difficulty getting better rates with a host of other insurers.

And, believe it or not, your insurer is likely to shift grounds if they see you’re really serious about leaving.

It is cheaper to insure a car if you live in a rural. Rural areas get far cheaper rates because they are less exposed to risks of vandalism, theft, collision and others that are usually associated with urban areas.

Buy an umbrella policy and reduce your bodily injury liability coverage to the barest minimum stipulated by law. This is particularly true if you have considerable assets that could be lost to a lawsuit.

Just to ensure we all are on the same plate, bodily injury liability coverage takes care of passengers and the other driver in an accident that’s caused by you. If you don’t have coverage like this, your assets could be used to compensate victims in accidents.

You are, however, urged to opt for an umbrella policy because even the most extensive liability coverage within an auto insurance policy wouldn’t be adequate if you’re at fault in a fatal accident. Doing with this extra could mean financial disaster as your assets (including your home) could be seized in other to settle damages and claims awarded against you. But if you have an umbrella policy, you’re almost certain that it can handle the most extreme case.

Apart from the fact that an umbrella policy will save you on auto insurance, it covers you from all manner of liability claims whether it’s at home or anywhere else.

If you compare the extent of coverage you get for similar amounts in premium, an umbrella policy simply knocks a bodily injury liability off…

If a 35-year old man who lives in New York City wants to raise his bodily injury liability coverage to $100K/$300K from $25K/$50K, his rate will increase by $300! However, with an umbrella policy, he’ll spend less than that to get $1 million worth of coverage. And should he choose to raise his coverage amount to $2 million, he’d have to pay just $75 more making a total of $375! After the $2 million mark, he’ll only need to add $50 to his rate per $1 million extra coverage amount.

Do the maths in your own case and see if it doesn’t pay you a lot more!

Inexpensive Car Insurance Quotes — Overlooked Issues That Saves You Much

March 25th, 2010 No comments

You can lower your rates dramatically by compromising the level of car insurance coverage you enjoy. That’s NOT smart. You can, however, easily pay far less without downgrading the quality of your coverage if you have and use the right tips. Following are tips that won’t leave you with inadequate coverage…

Your rate is seriously affected by your total mileage. Therefore do all within your power to NOT drive your car whenever there is a good alternative. This certainly makes sense if you live in an urban area where you have access to standard mass transit systems.

Carpooling is also another smart way of reducing your mileage.

Do you know that you might be losing money if you have a car that you’ve not used for months? Is one of your cars been covered in the garage for up to six months because it’s broken? Are you still paying premiums on such a car because you did NOT remember to remove it from your auto insurance policy?

Simple as this looks a lot of people end up paying thousands in unnecessary premiums because they don’t remember to remove such cars from their policy. Don’t make this mistake.

Do you know that some folks are paying much more in auto insurance because of where their homes are? Do you know also know that homes within the same neighbor might actually fall into different risk zones according to the insurance industry’s mapping?

So check with your agent before you commit to a new home. This doesn’t come readily to mind when you’re shopping for a new home. Does it?

But think about it: If your new zip code adds up to $300 to your annual auto insurance rate, how much would that amount to at the end of your 30-year mortgage?

Maintain an excellent credit rating. A poor credit history will cost you in higher auto insurance rates. For some insurers it is a pattern they believe you might repeat with them in premium defaults. Once you’re seen as a higher risk you will attract more expensive auto insurance premiums.

An easy way to make sure you get lower rates is being careful always while driving. Please, make sure you make it a personal principle to NOT drive if you even sip any alcoholic beverage.

Traffic offences that are associated to drinking invariably make you pay quite astronomical rates. And don’t ignore little things like speeding tickets because they cost you much more than what you pay as fines. They add up to raise your rate. For your safety then and cheaper rates, never go against any traffic law notwithstanding how small you think it is.

Do you have only eight minutes? Then you can save $100′s while you still maintain superior coverage at these sites: compare auto insurance quotes and auto insurance comparison. Chimezirim Odimba is the go-to guy for insurance savings tips.

The Best CPR Methods Fro Car Dealer Marketing

March 24th, 2010 No comments

If you’re like several dealers these days, your auto marketing strategy is on life support, one breath off from the grave. You as the owner or manager are most likely terrified, wondering “What can I do to resurrect my selling efforts?!” “What’s changed?” And most significantly-”Where have all the business, ups and traffic gone?”

Well those are great questions that I’ll cover now as part of the necessary selling CPR techniques you would like to bring health, life and vitality back to your auto business.

The “ancient model” of car dealer marketing is broken and no longer yields the results it once did. Call it the economy, call it the age of the web…call it whatever you wish…but simply know times have changed.

The second downside is that automotive marketing incest is rampant. Instead of testing the effectiveness of different marketing methods for themselves, dealers simply copy what everyone else is doing… and they too get stuck during this dead, outdated model as a result.

So how will you reverse the code blue and turn things around this year? Contemplate the subsequent:

1. Concentrate on the WHY, not the WHERE of Advertising

Most dealers obsessively wonder, “Where should I place my ad?” or “What’s the hottest media right now?” And after they think they’ve found it, they recklessly spend cash without knowing HOW or WHY that medium should work in the primary place. Till after all they don’t see the results they wanted and declare triumphantly, “______ doesn’t work.” Fill in the blank with whatever media you’ve tried and were disappointed with. Then that media gets crossed off the list of possible decisions and you’re one step closer to finding the magic media. Or therefore you think.

Well I’m here to tell you it’s not the media that’s the matter— it’s the broken, traditional model of car dealership marketing.

You’ve got to prevent where to put your ads and instead focus on WHY you’re buying them in the first place. The sooner you progress beyond the WHERE and into the WHY, the quicker you’ll pump out better and cheaper campaigns than the magic media you’ve tried within the past.

2. Move Beyond Make, Model and Price

If you’ll not be able to assume of anything else to put in your ads other than make, model and price you’re in SERIOUS want of intervention and very close to flat lining in business.

Why? Because everybody sells vehicles and features. If you provide clients no other reason for choosing you outside of make, model and price, you may land up right in the middle of the commodity market where logic dictates the sale and you’re left short changed at the end of the day.

Therefore if you want to get rid of yourself from the commodities market and differentiate yourself from the competition, you’ll would like to….

3. Start Selling Outcomes

Instead of harping on the features of your products and services, concentrate on the particular reasons a prospect should opt for you over everyone else and what they have to gain by doing business with your store. Declare to the globe, “I’m the obvious choice! Doing business with anyone else would be foolish.”

Of course this strategy is much more effective after you target and build your selling around something the customer wants. So how do you do that?

Ask yourself the following queries, “What are the large obstacles your customers face right now? How can you fix them? What do folks have to gain by working with you? What do they lose by going with the guy down the road? What are your competitors missing? What do you do probably better than anyone else?” Package that up, tie it to a powerful offer and you’re one step nearer to resurrecting your car business from the dead.

Another “lifesaving” distinction I’d like to make as you perform emergency CPR on your dealership this year is that marketing under the new model doesn’t require shopping for ad area merely to “get your name out there” or “build brand.” That is traditional and tends to be a waste of cash for smaller businesses.

March 24th, 2010 No comments

However we must consider some of the pros and cons when shopping for insurance online.

First, there is absolutely nothing wrong with requesting free insurance quotes online and purchasing an insurance policy over the web. For those who are insurance savvy, that usually already know what they want when they are requesting the online quotes, have no issues getting through the process. In fact, this can be crystal clear or as easy as black and white! Meaning that one can easily compare their current coverage, by reading their current policy’s declaration page vs the requested online quote to ensure they are being quoted similar coverage. By doing so, you can accurately verify whether you’ll be saving money if you purchase your new online insurance quote.

You have to do an apples to apples comparison when you’re shopping for free online insurance quotes. So if your current insurance policy says for xx coverage, you are to pay xx premium, and the new quote offers a different coverage, but a lower premium, DOES NOT necessarily mean you’re saving money. Because logically, there is a chance that if you request the exact same coverage, the new quote may be higher. Therefore, the new online insurance quote is not a true comparison.

When it comes to the novice insurance shopper who’s not familiar with insurance coverage, nor has ever requested an online insurance quote, might face certain difficulties. Some of the suggested online insurance quote request methods are:

1. Compare free insurance quotes only with reliable and well known providers.

Steel Garages Pros And Cons

March 24th, 2010 No comments

When you think about steel buildings, a large warehouse may come to mind. Perhaps you have seen factories with such structures. Many people choose steel today for outside buildings. They are available in many styles, shapes and colors. Steel garages can be a very good addition to your property.

Steel buildings are made completely out of steel. They are not to be confused with steel frame buildings. Steel frame buildings have the inner structure of steel. The outer building such as the roof and siding can be made out of other materials. A steel frame garage may resemble an ordinary wood garage. Steel frame buildings are not the subject of this discussion. Steel buildings have many advantages over other structures. Here are some to consider.

Good things

Steel buildings are cheaper to construct. You will pay considerably less for a steel structure than for a conventional one.

Tough: Steel buildings do not require a lot of extra support to maintain. They are very sturdy by nature. Their construction and configuration makes them a very sturdy building. They will hold up better than a wood structure of similar nature. There will not be much to maintain. Upkeep is minimal. They will last through many types of weather and climates.

Multipurpose: Steel structures can serve many uses. They can be large storage sheds. Make a workshop out of one. You may use them to house farm equipment. You can let the kids use it as a band practice area. Anywhere you can use a building, steel can serve that function.

Outside design: Many steel buildings can look like other types of buildings. You can apply various materials for colors and textures. They can resemble wood, also.

Not as heavy: Steel structures do not weigh as much as other garages. Wood, brick, or concrete would be considerably heavier.

Fire resistant: A wood garage can be a fire risk. Your insurance would most likely be cheaper for steel.

Tax savings: Your steel building may qualify as energy efficient. This could give you a tax savings.

Less damage: Insects and other pests do not eat steel. In some areas, termites are a real problem. This would be a big consideration. If your steel building gets wet, it will dry off in a short amount of time. Water cannot soak into a steel structure. This would prevent water damage that is possible with wood.

Cons

What Do I Need When Traveling To Australia?

March 23rd, 2010 No comments

In order to visit Australia you are required to obtain a tourist visa, issued from your country and entered into your passport. To apply you need to contact the Australian Embassy, Consulate or High Commission in your country, some visas can be issued online. You want to ensure you choose the proper visa as well, a tourist visa can be issues for up to 6 months. When applying for this visa you will need to show that you have an outgoing ticket and enough funds to last the entire stay.

You are not permitted to transport fresh foods, animals, plant produce and unprocessed food items. These items will be sized by customs upon arriving. This is part of the quarantine requirement, which tries to prevent, harmful, foreign organisms from entering Australia’s vegetation, wildlife and farming. If you purchase any wooden artifacts ensure they are not made from protected wildlife or species, as these will be confiscated.

You will want to avoid early morning flights, when flying domestically on the eastern seaboard routes, as these flights are heavily booked with business workers flying between capital cities. Flight for Jetstar and Virgin Blue airlines can be booked online, these airlines have the most competitive rates and you can always find a flight suitable to you.

Whether you are from a Catholic background, England faith, Jewish, Buddhist or Muslim you will be able to find a place of worship in most towns and cities. Australia does not have an official religion and welcomes all faiths and options.

The weather in Australia is extreme. It is really important to protect against sunburn at all times, but especially in summer. Use a wide brimmed hat , 30+ sunscreen as Australian sun has a very high UV level and skin damage occurs rapidly especially in the middle of the day.

When on the beach, always observe the beach safely signs. Swim only at patrolled beaches and only swim between the flags areas. You will always find a Beach Patrol Life Guard on major beaches and they usually wear yellow and red swim caps. Queensland also has its share of water hazards such as box jellyfish or stingers. These are generally found in shallow waters and most beaches are netted to provide stinger protection. There are other poisonous creatures on the reef such as some of the cone shell species and coral snakes both of which are capable of causing death, not to mention the sharks!! It is definitely worth seeking expert guidance to ensure you have a sound knowledge of what can hurt you before you start!

The Advantages Of Pay As You Drive Insurance

March 23rd, 2010 No comments

Insurance companies usually price auto insurance policies on factors such as the driver’s gender, age, driving record, and place of residence. Pay As You Drive insurance, however, is very different, being based on the number of miles you drive. The fewer miles you drive, the less you pay.

One advantage of Pay As You Drive insurance is the cost. Since the premiums are linked to how much the driver uses their vehicle, it is easy to reduce costs. Simply reduce the amount of driving you do. Not only will you save money on your insurance costs, you will also save on gas and auto maintenance and repair. Less driving also means less wear and tear on your vehicle, which means you will be able to keep your vehicle long after you make that last car payment. With the cost of new and used vehicles soaring, this is a particularly attractive incentive.

Another advantage to Pay As You Drive insurance is you can specifically tailor your insurance program to meet your driving needs. Premiums under Pay As You Drive insurance are determined either within a specific range of miles, by the total number of miles driven or by the number of hours driven. A driver can elect to have a Pay As You Drive insurance program that focuses on a specific time period, such as six months, or the driver can simply choose to focus on the total number of miles driven. Pay As You Drive insurance gives drivers plenty of freedom and flexibility when it comes to designing an insurance program that works for them.

Pay As You Drive insurance offers an incentive to drive fewer miles, and the less you drive, the less likely you are to get into an accident. Low mileage drivers tend to be more cautious and focused behind the wheel as well.

Pay As You Drive plans require mileage monitoring, but there are multiple options. It is possible to have odometer readings, just as one would at the annual safety inspection. It is also possible to have a GPS-based monitor installed in the vehicle, which allows for data uploading. And since only periodic mileage readings as needed to compute the cost of Pay As You Drive coverage, the cost of monitoring will most likely be offset by the money saved in insurance premiums.

The Brookings Institute found that two-thirds of American households would save an average of $270 per year with Pay As You Drive. In the current economic situation, that is welcome news.

Moreover, not only does Pay As You Drive save you money, it protects the environment. Fewer vehicles on the streets and highways means a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. Less traffic also means fewer traffic jams and less congestion, and less time wasted sitting in the car.

There are plenty of advantages for Pay As You Drive insurance. Contact a qualified insurance provider for more detailed information on an insurance plan that best suits your driving needs.

Keep Your Cars Valuable

March 22nd, 2010 No comments

If you plan to keep your car a few years only, then it’s in your best interest to keep its resale value as high as you possibly can, after all that’s more money to put down on your next new car. These five tips will put your car ahead of the others and help to maximize its resale value.

*1. Buy a car that will keep its value.* Resale value is based on many factors, including desirability and reliability. Some makes, such as Toyota, Honda Mercedes and Lexus always hold their value well. Use a good used car website when pricing your car, to research the resale history of makes and models in which you are interested. Some options, such as air conditioning or a sunroof, will improve your car’s resale value; consider buying them even if they aren’t on your personal must-have list it can be worth it in the long run.

*2. Keep to the maintenance schedule and keep all receipts.* You’ll find the maintenance schedule in the back of the owner’s manual. Keep receipts for all maintenance and repair work, no matter how minor. A stack of receipts shows that your car has been well taken care of. Clever used car buyers will be willing to pay extra for a car with a fully documented service history.

*3. Don’t have a crash.* Any history of collision damage can dent your car’s resale value, and a trained used car appraiser can spot body work from a mile away. If your car is in a collision, use an experienced repair shop with a good reputation and insist on using factory (also known as OEM, for Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts. Save all receipts and be up front and honest about any collision repair work when it comes time to sell on or trade. Being evasive about collision repair may lead the buyer to believe that the damage was more extensive than you are telling him.

*4. Resist customization.* Spending money on your car can decrease its value. If you do have your car customized, stick to non-intrusive upgrades such as new wheels or an upgraded stereo that won’t require extensive re-wiring or cutting up the dashboard. Save the old parts so you have the option of returning your car to its original condition before selling. Lots of buyers will require the vehicle to be in its original condition even if a bit worn.

*5. Keep your vehicle clean.* The better your car appears to be kept up, the more it will be worth, and most people associate cleanliness with care. Polishing and shining your car on a regular basis is a much easier way to keep it looking good than paying for an expensive detail job when the time comes to sell it.

Mercedes E CLass The New Version

March 22nd, 2010 No comments

Mercedes mid-level E-Class is not only their best selling model, it’s also one of my favorite prestige cars. The E350 and E550 saloons have been redesigned for 2010, complete with new styling and a host of new electronic gadgets. All very impressive but I wanted to see if the E-Class was still the same.

At First Glance

I don’t like change. So I was not happy when Mercedes announced that the new E-Class was coming for 2010.

See, I don’t just like the E-Class – I love the E-Class. To me, the E Class was the medicine for rush hour traffic: A road going smooth piece of machinery that’s like sitting in your favorite armchair. Just getting into an E Class relaxes one of all the stresses of the day.

Like the old E, the new E’s cabin is a wood-trimmed lined with soft, high-quality plastics. Genuine leather comes standard on the E550. The transmission stick has moved to the steering column, freeing space for two cup holders, a big center armrest, and the dial controller that runs many of the car’s functions, including navigation, stereo and Blue tooth speakerphone.

The E provides plenty of room up front and quite a bit in the back, although rear legroom gets tight if the front seats are adjusted all the way back. Booth capacity is 15.9 cubic feet; you can expand that, but only if you pay extra for a split fold rear seat. Why Mercedes charges extra for this feature, when most cars have it for free, is beyond me.

The 2010 E has a host of new gadgets, including Attention Assist, somehow deduces from steering inputs if the driver is falling asleep and sounds an alarm. Options include a night vision camera that highlights pedestrians (costs extra) and a parking assist system that tells you when to turn the steering wheel (costs extra) Some cars have an optional drivers seat with active air bladders. The massage function is nice, but I’d probably save the extra cost and settle for the standard 14 way power seat.

On the Road

Drive the V6-powered E350 saloon, I can’t see anyone needing any more power than its 268 horsepower engine delivers. For those people who live outside of my imagination, the E550 offers a 382 hp 5.5 liter V8 a beautiful engine that delivers its power smoothly and gently, unless you floor the accelerator, in which case it propels you down the road at a rate of knots. The E550 also comes with air springs, which produce an impossible blend of sharp handling and a smooth ride.

Still the one

Having finished my test I conclude that the new E-Class may have new styling and lots of new gadgets, but it’s still the same smooth piece of machinery it always has been. And it’s still the standard by which I judge prestige saloons.

As is the case with most cars, the E-Class isn’t the best pick for everyone. While the lower prices are a nice surprise, the E class still isn’t cheap, especially once you start adding in options.

Let’s Talk Car Seat Cushions

March 22nd, 2010 No comments

Car seats are not really very comfortable to sit on. Most manufacturers focus on durability rather than comfort so it can get very tiring when driving or just taking a ride. This comfort problem can be addressed by using car seat cushions-ergonomic cushions designed specifically for the seats of cars. Their main function is to remove or alleviate the stress caused by prolonged sitting. The cushions allow drivers and passengers to sit in the position they are most comfortable in.

There are lots of different car seat cushions available. The most common ones are just cushions places on top of the seats and provide support for your whole back. Some are also contoured for that extra support. The normal material used would be foam enclosed with a leather casing, which is resistant to scratching and wrinkles. Other unique cushions include those with beads or built in massagers for extra comfort.

Smaller car seat cushions are also available and can support not only the back and buttocks but also the lumbar region. These cushions are specially designed for improving posture and make sitting that more comfortable. They absorb pressure and stress from the back and butt.

Inflatable cushions which molds itself to the driver’s movements are one of the latest entry on the market. These cushions not only massages but promotes good blood circulation, which are usually disturbed by prolong sitting when driving. These seats also supports the back, lumbar region and butt and thus proves to be very comfortable to use.

Car seat cushions are usually colored to fit the interior of the car. There are leather cushions for an elegant look and there are synthetic ones which can have different prints. There are many designs when it comes to colors and prints so finding the right one for specific cars won’t be a problem.

Night Driving Glasses: What Are Your Options

March 21st, 2010 No comments

Do you remember that old rock song Blinded By The Light? Does this remind you of yourself when driving at night? If you find yourself agreeing with any of these concepts then a pair of night driving glasses could be needed. It is very important that your pair of driving glasses comes complete with an anti-reflective coating. These are quality glasses and will help you drive down the road without suffering from the glare of bright lights coming toward you.

Various kinds of night driving glasses are plentifully available and you may want to stay away from the glasses that are tinted yellow and amber because they may make you believe you’ve got the ability to view things better yet they might not actually be helping you a lot. The best option is to stay with the anti-reflective type of night glasses. These can help lower the reflections that are in the lens and they can help get rid of halo problems.

Reputable companies came out with these glasses after spending a lot of time and money designing them to be both attractive and functional. The front and the back of your glass lens should both have the special coating applied. This can help reduce the glare that comes from other cars headlights.

Brighter car lights these days means a bigger chance of being blinded by the glare of an oncoming car. You can even wear some of these types of glasses underneath a motorcycle helmet.

If you are thinking about buying a pair of glasses here are a few tips to help you make a good choice:

1. Be certain the first step you take is to have your eyes examined and discuss this difficulty with a professional.

2. Always having a clean lens is very important.

3.If you do not take enough time to insure your windshield is clean, driving at night can prove to be quite difficult.

4.Make sure your new glasses have an anti-reflective coating.

You should consider buying yourself a pair of night driving glasses if you find that you are having a hard time driving at night.
