Driver Blames UFO To Get Off Paying A Parking Fine

Are you one of the many UK motorists that believe they have been the victim of an unfair motoring charge? If you are currently nodding your head, then don’t despair, try using one of these genuine explanations given to one London borough council in the hope, albeit slim, that you may be able to overturn your motoring conviction.

However, you can’t blame them for trying as fines for illegal parking in the City of London reach an incredible 120 per ticket. Furthermore, if you do have a valid pay and display ticket, remember to remove your previous day’s ticket, as they will also fine you for that!

Have you ever seen a UFO whilst driving? If so, take a photo as you may want to try using this as a reason to avoid a motoring offence should you receive one in the future, as this driver did: According to the shocked motorist, he was so engrossed in the spectacle of what he described as a “UFO” that he unintentionally drove into the bus lane and was consequently fined.

The reasons continue, another motorist declared that they were actually colour blind and unable to distinguish the colour of the yellow line, thinking it was actually a green line and presumed it was acceptable to park.

A spokesperson for the London borough for Southwark Council said that the imagination of some motorists was “quite impressive”. Some of the other reasons submitted by desperate motorists include “It was raining. I thought I could park anywhere if the weather was bad.” Another fined driver stated: “I don’t know what the yellow lines mean.”

One of the more amusing reasons for non payment of a parking fine by a London motorist was “I was only sleeping in the back of the car.”The parking attendant could have asked me to move the car instead of giving me a ticket, although he would not have seen me as I had a blanket over my head.”

Feeling sleepy? Getting the blanket out of the boot and covering your head is a sure-fire way to avoid a motoring offence right? Wrong! As this dopey driver found out, “I was only sleeping in the back of the car. The parking attendant could have asked me to move the car instead of giving me a ticket, although he would not have seen me as I had a blanket over my head.”

It’s not all parking doom and gloom however, with Westminster City Council stating that some motorists who park illegally in central London could receive written or verbal warnings instead of a 120 fine.
