Cars these days are highly tuned for stock configurations and any modifications of components, such as vehicle upgrades or performance enhancements usually result in throwing off and confusing the electronic software.
Vehicle manufacturers including Renault Sport take a very one size fits all viewpoint on vehicle performance and petrol economy. This opens the door for amazing improvements in performance and economy by changing factory engine maps and customizing these for specific weather conditions and locations.
Did you know your engine calibration and software running your Renault Sport vehicles ECU are not always adjusted to your country, atmospheric conditions and petrol standard? This results in your vehicle losing performance, running less economically and causing damage to engine components.
This is usually referred to as ECU remapping or ECU tuning. Tuning does not involve any actual changes to your vehicle. Most Renault Sport vehicles may have their engine calibrations changed and updated via an OBD port, which connects to the cars ECU.
Engine operation will be greatly improved and will operate more smoothly resulting in a extended lifetime for your car. Enhancements to a car through tuning also improves the vehicles petrol economy. What this means is that your cars custom calibration, will pay for itself in time.
Tuning is a quick way to improve your vehicles performance as it is relatively cheap and provides immediate results. A laptop and remapping, calibration controller is commonly plugged into this OBD port and tuned electronic engine control data can be written to the ECU.
Tuning is a low risk way to place new life into an older model car. Because the process is completely reversible you run no risk to yourself or your car. There are many competent remapping services available. Some will supply custom tuning services while others will provide stock performance maps, which offer a great improvement over the factory default.

Having a stronger 3.0-litre V6 engine, the 2012 Land Range Rover Sport provides more power but features better fuel economy and reduced CO2 emissions. There’s been a decline in CO2 emissions for each of the engine types because of the low-fuel injection system for example the 211PS engine dropped from 243g/km to 224g/km and the more powerful 256PS engine is now 230g/km versus 243g/km for last years 245PS engine.
The fuel economy is partly the effect of the extremely efficient ZF 8HP70 8-speed automatic gearbox. The Range Rover Sport even offers a rotary gear shift selector along with a steering wheel that includes a mounted paddle shift. The 5.0 LR-V8 Supercharged is still the same and still awe-inspiring for 2012 with its supreme power. Because of their distinctive diesel particulate filter, the Land Rover’s diesel engines are the cleanest engines today. There have been changes to the details and colors and improving on the look and equipment.
For almost all of the industry, drivers can set the lift height to where they want, with the new powered tailgate. A passenger may now view a DVD while the driver is viewing the navigation display, as the Range Rover Sport, for the first time, has the next generation 7" touch-screen with optional Dual View technology. Together with WhiteFireTM Wireless technology currently being available, the entertainment bundle for the rear seat has also been enhanced. The audio quality in the premium audio systems are also upgraded with 825W of power from the Premium Harmon Kardon LOGIC 7. Drivers are able to use vocal instructions on premium systems with the new ‘Say What You See’ voice command, using step-by-step prompts on the screen.
The new 2012 Range Rover Sport is a wonderful value SUV with great performance and enhanced fuel efficiency. The engine efficiency, decreased fuel emissions and amazing new features help the Range Rover continue to be the symbol of power and refinement for 2012. The Range Rover has experienced no major technical modifications, still offering a 309bhp 4.4-litre TDV8 turbo diesel engine. This hefty vehicle can go from 0-62 mph in just above six seconds with the 503bhp Supercharged LR-V8, which produces a maximum of 370bhp.
Though the supercharged car is more sexy, you may be better off with the diesel engine. Not likely very many SUV’s will be able to lay claim to a combined EU fuel economy cycle of at least 30 mpg. Not just that, when it’s not pushed, it barely makes any noise at all. The 2012 Land Rover Range Rover Sport might be the vehicle for you if you would like something efficient but supercharged.
