The perfect family holiday car
Let’s design the perfect family holiday car.
As a man with a family of three kids, I know what my perfect family holiday car looks like because I went out and bought one.
But not before years of heartache along the lines of “are we nearly there yet”, “I’m bored” I want a drink / something to eat / I need a rest room” etc. etc.!
So first off, the perfect family holiday automobile I most definitely an estate car.
This stops you having to bother with roof racks, U-Hauls or whatever – and means it comes in handy the rest of the year while hauling things around.
Next, it has to be a car with really low fuel consumption. I’d like to have been able to set a good environmental example to the kids with one of the low emission cars as a responsible choice – but they hybrid estates just aren’t there yet in terms of mileage per gallon figures, so I went for the Honda Accord Tourer which seems to offer a little bit of everything.
Then there’s the in-car entertainment and general gadgetry.
An in-car DVD player is just a given for long family journeys. I don’t know where we’d be without it – and it was a lot cheaper simply to buy a portable plug-in for $100 than to go for a car with it built in.
Then you’ve got your cooler box, your satnav and all the other laptops and accessories the kids want – so you’re really going to need a multiple adapter charger; that’s just a given these days to carry and power the ten thousand dollars’ worth of on-board electronics!
Now all your need are some ear defenders and you’re all set!
